The Minetta Creek Collective provides the Washington Square Park community with free food, classes, and events, and runs a free farmstand of fruits, vegetables, canned goods, dry goods, and tea on Wednesdays from 1 PM - 3 PM in front of Judson Memorial Church.
The Collective is hosted by Judson Memorial Church and is a partnership between local organizers, the Judson Food Bank, Trinity Church, and St. John’s Lutheran Church.
You can contact us here, write to us here, or come meet us at the farmstand!
Washington Square Park
Washington Square Park is one of the busiest plots of land on the planet—the most widely used park per acre in the city, with as many as 50,000 people coming through on a busy summer day. It is a hub of happy activity, but also a gathering place for those in need. More than one million New Yorkers—12.9% of the population—are food insecure; among college students in the city, the percentage is far higher. Some of these New Yorkers come to the park for shade, leisure, shelter, company, music, and play. It is in the park that we hope to meet them—and meet some of their needs.
